Pre-Empire State Plaza Documentary of Neighborhood Proposed
I had heard through the grapevine of this effort to make a documentary about the neighborhood that was demolished to make way for the Empire State Plaza in Albany, NY.
This happened in the late 1950s, 60s, 70s so I'm almost surprised such a documentary has not yet been made. I also can't help but compare this with the current tearing down of St. Patrick's Church in Watervliet - that could be a documentary of its own as well.
The Empire State Plaza project took over a dozen years of planning/construction with a $2 billion price tag.
Here is a bit more information and a trailer for the documentary which would focus on the Italian neighborhood, along with info about how to donate through kickstarter, via Keep Albany Boring. And even more information, via the Times Union.
